Since 2000, the Men’s Event has supported cancer research funding at Georgetown University’s Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center for the most prevalent types of men’s cancers. As the Washington area’s only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, Georgetown Lombardi has been a world-class leader in transformative advancements in cancer research and treatments for 50 years.

With prostate cancer in particular touching one in six men, the Prostate Center at Georgetown University’s Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center is responding to an urgent need. The center is a multidisciplinary clinic that allows Georgetown to effectively harness the resources of its preeminent radiation medicine, urology and oncology departments.

The Men’s Event makes it possible to continue the lifesaving work that is done every day at Georgetown Lombardi. Research leads to clinical trials and innovative new treatments that are making dramatic impacts on the lives of people with cancer. Georgetown University’s Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center is leading the way in immunotherapies, precision medicine and proton beam therapies, not only for prostate cancer but also lung, pancreatic, colon, melanoma, and many other malignancies. Georgetown Lombardi has attracted the best and brightest doctors, nurses, scientists and researchers who are guided by the principle of cura personalis, “care of the whole person,” to help patients live longer with a higher quality of life.

Georgetown University’s Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, part of Georgetown University Medical Center, seeks to prevent, treat and cure cancers by linking scientific discovery, expert and compassionate patient care, quality education and partnership with the community — guided by the principle of cura personalis, “care for the whole person.” Georgetown Lombardi is the research engine driving clinical cancer research at MedStar Health in the DC Metro area and northern New Jersey.

In 1974, Georgetown Lombardi became the 16th National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in the country. Today, we remain the only center with this designation in the Washington, DC, area.
